3-D: Leather Sculpture Reflection Questions. April 2, 2013.
1. The strong parts of my leather sculpture would have to be my stiching and front design because I put a lot of work into both of them and I like the way it turned out.
2. I think I could have added detail to the top part of the purse. It looks to simple, but I felt if I added anything else it would make it to complex.
3. I made a wallet because it looked cute and it came in an easy kit.
4. I used three stamping tools total to make my designs, a leaf, a flower, and a snowflake. The back of the purse has leaves centered around one flower with snowflake like designs around that flower. On the front the flower is placed in the corner and the leaves gradually lessen as they approach the left side of the wallet.
5. I used a leaf stamping tool to make most of the designs around the wallet. I used a hammer to achieve this imprint. I made the back of the purse the most detailed because it will be the part most seen.
6. I learned that leather is not to hard to work with, but is very loud. If you wish to work with leather, wear earplugs, or you will get a headache.
7. The first step in making my wallet was finding the right kit. Then I practiced what I would like my design to look like and put the final design on the wallet. Next, I had to cemment the two materials together and place the lock. The final step was the stiching. I knew I wanted to do something with a flower and leaves and picked the stamping tools that were simple to work with.
8. Yes, I believe it is a worthwhile project. I don't think Mr. Purdy should change anything.
