Overall Painting #2
Close-ups
2-D: Thematic Acrylic Painting Reflection. March 4, 2013
- 1. I think I did a good job with the blending of the background because it looks pretty neat. I do not like the tree because its shape looks wierd.
2. I think I could of made the tree better because I do not like how it turned out and if I had a smaller brush, it might have looked nicer.
3. The theme of the painting is death. I chose to do death because Cody told me too. The tree hanging on a ledge symbolizes the end of life.
4. I used a lot of dark blue and black in my painting to help represent death. They give a depression tone to the painting.
5. I used a lighter blue color in the lower right hand corner and added black to that blue leading to the top left hand corner to give different shades of blue. The darkest corner is the top left and the lightest is the bottom right.
6. I learned how to better blend my colors and to not be afraid to redue certain areas to make them better. Keep trying because it can always be better.
7. First I came up with my preliminary designs and asked some classmates which one I should do. Then I made the canvas and applied black paint. Next I drew my design and started painting. I started at the bottom left and worked my way up. I painted the cliff first then the background and the tree was last. I changed the background a lot.
8. It is a worth while project. Acrylics are fun to do and making the canvas can help me in the future. Mr. Purdy should choose one theme and have everyone paint that theme.
